ENTREPRENEURSHIP SPECIAL: Creating a Singapore Brand of Entrepreneurial Culture

s it a case of too little, too late, for Singapore to promote a culture of entrepreneurship now?

Professor Tom Kosnik, a consulting professor who teaches Global Entrepreneurial Marketing and Industry Thought Leaders Seminar under the Stanford Technology Ventures Program at the Stanford School of Engineering, does not think so. In fact the adjunct professor at the National University of Singapore sees the nation showing strong commitment to nurturing its next generation of entrepreneurs.

The Entrepreneurship and Internationalisation Sub-Committee in Singapore, which is a public review body, recently proposed a broad range of measures to induce more citizens to become their own bosses. If approved, some of its proposals will be included in the main Economic Review Committee report in January 2003.

For a start, International Enterprise Singapore plans to pump S$5 million into a programme to give as many as 150 local executives exposure to and experience in overseas markets over the next year.
